Thirty singers and musicians from the North Georgia Area gathered together recently for a Friends Singing. Concert was hosted by Debbie and John Foster at Elizabeth Baptist Church in Marietta, GA. The groups are some of the BEST singers that sing for the Lord on a part-time basis. Don Williams emceed the program. Don is a resident of Woodstock, GA.
The evening was opened with prayer. Then The Joymasters from Canton, GA opened the concert. This group was founded by Jerry Forrester and his wife 47 years ago and continues today sing with a full band. Members of the group include Tim Jennings, lead; Jeff Vinson, tenor; Billy Forrester, baritone; Eric McVey, bass. Band members are Matt Burgess, piano; Miles Burgess, bass guitar; Vell Young, rhythm guitar and Andrew Hart, lead guitar. The Joymasters have traveled all across America during their 47 years of singing. They also closed out the concert with owner and founder Jerry Forrester joining the group on the final song. www.thejoymasters.net
Angel Spirit from Jasper, GA followed with true family harmony. Group consists of sisters Diane Green, Mildred Sewell and Selina Fields daughter of Mildred. Their name is true to their singing; they really do sound like angels! www.angelspirittrio.tripod.
The Heard Family from Canton, GA who recently appeared on ‘Atlanta Live’ TV program came on stage. They are another family group of sisters; Carol
Wilson, Debbie Gibbs, Connie Shellnut and Carol’s daughters, Holly and Morgan. Great singing from the group with only a piano. www.theheardfamilysingers.com
Tenor Jackie Fortner from Gainesville, GA, best known for the years he spent traveling with Liberty across America, blessed the audience with his great tenor voice singing some of the best songs of his career. Anywhere Jackie sings, he always brings the house down and fills it
with the Holy Spirit.
Zion Quartet from Dallas, GA, with their band, added more enjoyment to the evening. Michael Whitaker sings tenor for the group, Joseph Dudley, lead, Kevin McBrayer, baritone, and Scott Townsend, bass. The band consists of Bruce Lee, piano; Tommy Pante, bass guitar and Adam Beavers, drums. Bruce closed their set singing a solo and playing a song that set the house on fire, with the audience really being blessed. Folks were shouting and (as I’ve heard some say) the ladies were shouting their bobbie-pins out, so ‘you better duck so you don’t get hit by one.’ www.zionqt.com
Open Door was up next. Members are Elizabeth
Choir Director, Hannah Jones, Dave Eubanks, lead and Eric Tippens, baritone.
The Joymasters came back on stage and closed the concert out. A great time was had by all!
