Birmingham, Ala. Ashley DeRamus, founder of The Ashley DeRamus Foundation and Ashley by Design, is pleased to announce her new role as spokesperson for Adorn Fashion, based out of Atlanta. DeRamus continues to make strides in the fashion world, as she is the first person with Down syndrome to represent a major fashion line.
Adorn Fashion is a leading supplier at AmericasMart in Atlanta and known for its superior quality, elegance and sophisticated designs. In partnership with DeRamus, Adorn will manufacture new designs for Ashley by Design, and Adore Kids will launch a clothing line for children with Down syndrome.
“We are excited about partnering with Ashley and her wonderful foundation,” says Hema Pandaya, president of Adorn Fashion. “She is a talented designer with a keen eye for fashion, and we can’t wait to help her expand into children’s clothing.”
Founded by DeRamus and her mother, Connie DeRamus, Ashley by Design specializes in clothing specifically tailored for individuals with Down syndrome – a perfect fit that is hard to achieve off-the-rack. Clothing from the line will be showcased and sold at the Cash & Carry event at AmericasMart Atlanta from May 5 to 7. The showroom will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 and Wednesday, May 6, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 7. The designs can also be purchased at www.ashleybydesign.com.
“We came up with the idea for a fashion line for girls with Down syndrome because it has been so hard to find clothes for Ashley over the years, making shopping more of a hassle than an enjoyable experience,” says Connie. “Those with Down syndrome tend to have different body types than most clothing lines are made for, and we wanted them to feel just as confident as anyone else. The partnership with Adorn and Adore Kids will help us expand clothing options to children with Down syndrome.”
