EDWARDS FAMILY RELEASES CD, “HOME” AT SKAGGS PLACE

The Edwards Family latest CD, “Home,” has just recently been released.  Recorded at Skaggs Place in Nashville, Tennessee, it was produced by Jared Easter, Alex Edwards and Andy Leftwich, and engineered by Lee Groitzsch.   Along with original music written by members of The Edwards Family, The Easter Brothers and Family, the album also features “Home”, the award winning title track written by Sarah Herring Wells.  This song also features grammy award winner, Rob Ickes, on dobro.  True to their gospel bluegrass roots, they have included fresh arrangements of classic gospel songs with a distinct sound known only to the Edwards Family. The final track on this new release features an instrumental written by Alex that embodies the essence of the unique blend of modern style and classic bluegrass that makes the Edwards Family stand out in the genre.

For more than a decade the Edwards Family, made up of siblings: Elizabeth, Shane, Mary Lynn and Alex, has been playing and singing bluegrass gospel music at churches and music venues throughout the southeast including the IBMA’s StreetFest, Dollywood and North Carolina’s Lt. Governor Dan Forest’s Swearing-In Celebration. They were honored to receive their first award ever as a family band as the 2005 Junior Bluegrass Champions at Fiddler’s Grove Festival (the longest running Fiddlers Festival in the nation) held in Union Grove, North Carolina. Throughout the next few years the Lord continuously blessed the family with numerous awards and recognitions, including a second place secured by Alex in 2013 at the prestigious Merlefest Banjo competition in Wikesboro, North Carolina. Most recently Alex won Renofest’s banjo competition in Hartsville, South Carolina. Ronnie Reno presented him with a Yates banjo and the title of 2014 South Carolina’s Banjo Champion.

They have made several television appearances including recording for “Bluegrass Road,” a television show which airs weekly nationwide on the Blue Highways Network. In 2012 Shane and Alex were featured in “Generation Bluegrass,” a video project introducing some of the most talented up and coming young bluegrass musicians in the country. The Edwards Family has released 6 albums since 2005. Their first three albums were produced by Eddie Carr of Granite Productions; “Beautiful Heavenly Home” (2005), “Touch of Tradition” (2006), “Will the Circle be Unbroken” (2007). The group has worked with Jared Easter of Life Line Records producing their three latest albums; “Innocent” (2010), “Road Less Traveled” (2012), and “Home” (2015).

The Edwards Family feels so blessed for the gift of music that the Lord has bestowed upon them. Their desire is to always uplift and glorify their Savior Jesus Christ through their music.
