Cleveland, Tennessee (September 15, 2015) After months of preparation and anticipation the Absolutely Gospel Music Benefit Concert to help with the World Missions project Marcelly’s Dream has come and gone and left behind a great concert where hearts were touched and blessed and a respectable amount of money raised to help the project.
Bringing mega groups like the Isaacs and the Browders to the little city of Cleveland, Tennessee sounded like a good idea to AGM owner Deon Unthank and his wife Pamela. Then they were both struck with the idea of having a purpose for the concert. Being supporters of the Marcelly’s Dream Mission Project seemed like a natural match. Marcelly’s Dream came about as the result of a missionaries young daughter, Marcelly, and a dream she had about giving water and Bibles to children in foreign countries. While with her parents in Dr. Tim Hill’s office, the General Director of the Church of God Missions (Cleveland), Marcelly started telling Dr Hill of her dream. He was so touched by her sincerity and innocence that he felt moved by God to help make her dream come true. As a result millions of dollars have been raised and wells have been dug, food furnished, Bibles passed out, medical needs taken care of, and ministry to children around the world.
With such a worthy cause it was easy to get behind this event. According to the promoter, Deon Unthank “I couldn’t help but be excited about this concert. We were doing it for the right reason and we were bringing in some of the top talent in all of Gospel Music. I couldn’t think of a better reason to promote a concert.”
Having 500 in attendance and raising $2,500.00 for the Marcelly’s Dream Project the Unthanks and Dr. Hill consider this a success which brings glory to God and that was the whole goal in the first place.
Dr. Tim Hill commented, “Southern Gospel Music is the backbone of worship among many Christians, and that was no less the case at the recent benefit concert for World Missions Marcelly’s Dream, sponsored by Absolutely Gospel and its director, Deon Unthank. With a heightened atmosphere of praise, $2500 was raised for the project. Thank you to those who made it possible!”
This was the first of several planned concerts in the Cleveland area so the only place to go is up. Up in attendance, up in interest in Gospel music, and up in spreading the message of the Gospel to the area.
Deon also stated, “I cannot thank the local area business owners enough for their help in support this effort. Their contributions by buying ads in our program booklet was a big help in meeting our expectations for giving to missions. I pray God blesses every one of those businesses.”.
In appreciation for their hard work and commitment to the Marcelly’s Dream Project, Dr. Hill and the COG World Missions Department presented the Unthanks with a beautiful picture representing the Marcelly’s Dream initiative.
